To check if you have the latest updates for Director, just go to the Help menu in Director and choose Updates.
Are you using Adobe Media Encoder when you export your premiere file? I don't see SWF as an export option. You could export as a FLV and then use a swf to play that in Director. My demo movie at teh URL below does that:

The one thing with the template at the above URL is that it uses Actionscript 2 and the latest Flash doesn't support that anymore.
